HEY, PAGE KILLER!
My name is J.W. Vincent, but you can call me John!
I fell in love with storytelling as a child when, as a 3-yr old, I’d read stories to other kids at my daycare. Not much has changed because now, as an educator, I still tell stories to children every day.
But when the lights go down, and the house grows quiet, a whole different side of me emerges. I’ve always been drawn to the stories that make your pulse quicken – the ones that crawl under your skin and refuse to let go. I’m talking about that feeling when you know you should stop reading because it’s 2:00 am, but you just can’t put that book down. That’s the feeling I chase as a writer. I want people to feel something after reading my stories…maybe even a little creeped out. There is power in eliciting strong emotions with nothing more than a collection of words.
I write psychological thrillers because I believe suspense is one of the most honest and rawest of emotions one can experience. When you can bring tension to stories with themes of injustice, featuring underdogs as heroes, and exposing corrupt systems that often railroad them, you wind up with a story that doesn’t just entertain…it haunts.
If that sounds like the kind of story you love to get lost in most, that’s exactly the reader experience I strive to share in each book I write.
I currently live in the Tar Heel State with my wife, two adult children, and a house full of cute rescue animals.
